TERN

TERN (The Australian Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network) is dedicated to advancing ecological research and environmental monitoring across Australia. By combining cutting-edge technology with field-based observations, TERN delivers high-quality data and analytical tools essential for understanding and managing Australia's diverse ecosystems. Their comprehensive offerings include ecological research services, plot-based ecosystem monitoring, remote sensing data products, and extensive datasets that cover soil, flora, and fauna characteristics.

At the heart of TERN’s mission is the collection and distribution of long-term, model-ready data that supports researchers, policymakers, and land management stakeholders in making informed decisions about environmental sustainability. TERN's initiatives span crucial areas such as ecosystem surveillance, landscape analysis, and ecosystem processes, utilizing instruments like eddy covariance flux towers and ecoacoustic sensors. Collaborating with global research partners, TERN aims to enhance our understanding of ecosystem dynamics and resilience, while ensuring that data is freely accessible to foster national and international research efforts.
