Austin Lawler is a writer whose work explores the effort to find clarity amid chaos and uncertainty. After studying at Dartington College of Arts to develop his acting and directing skills, he discovered a strong interest in writing. His published plays have been performed at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and in pubs, clubs, village halls and theatres around the world.
Lawler also worked as a stand-up comedian on London stages, an experience that informs his fiction. His debut novel, The Shoreditch Exhibition, was published by Roaringwater Books in 2022. Set in Shoreditch, London, the novel follows a world of artistic ambition and professional jealousy, where events lead to tragic consequences; the book presents a witty look at what can happen in the name of art.
