Austin Veterinary Outreach & Rescue of NC, located in Beaufort, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals in eastern NC. Our mission is to provide affordable veterinary care, including spay and neuter services, for pet owners in Carteret County and surrounding areas. We also work tirelessly to find forever homes for homeless animals in the region.

Our board members are passionate animal lovers, committed to the health and welfare of all animals. As a volunteer-based organization, we dedicate our time off from our real jobs to help animals in need. Our current veterinary team consists of highly skilled surgeons, Dr.

Sara Austin and Dr. Sam Schmitt from Austin Veterinary Animal Hospital. They prioritize delivering top-notch care for your pets.

Since our establishment in 2015, we have successfully rescued and found homes for hundreds of cats and dogs. We also participate in the New Leash on Life program, where inmates at the Craven Pamlico Correctional Facility in Bayboro, NC, partner with us to train dogs in preparation for adoption. This program benefits both the inmates and the dogs, as it promotes responsibility, patience, and a sense of accomplishment.
