Austrian BioImaging is an association of Austrian universities and leading research institutions that connects researchers and businesses with advanced biological and preclinical imaging infrastructure. As Austria’s national node of Euro-BioImaging, a European Research Infrastructure Consortium, it links users to a wider network supporting biological and biomedical research. Its open-access services are available regardless of users’ institutional affiliations, including to academic researchers, startups, and established companies.

The network brings together 29 technology units across eight universities and research institutes, providing access to more than 40 imaging technologies and the expertise of participating staff. Services support research and development in life sciences and biomedicine, as well as potential applications in agriculture, materials science, food quality, and industry. Austrian BioImaging also supports the development of imaging techniques and multimodal imaging pipelines, and offers biomedical image informatics expertise. Its activities extend beyond infrastructure access to include knowledge exchange, collaboration, workshops, training, and online resources. By connecting academic and private-sector users with facilities and specialist support, the association aims to advance research and innovation.
