Autism India

Autism India, also known as the Institute for Remedial Intervention Services (I.R.I.S.), is an organization based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Its work focuses on supporting people with special needs and promoting understanding of developmental and behavioural disorders, including autism and Asperger’s syndrome. Guided by the motto “Every child counts” and the mission “Excellence, ethics and empowerment,” IRIS aims to strengthen special education in India by helping develop the infrastructure and professional expertise needed to serve children with special needs.

IRIS provides consultancy and training to schools, parents, educators, organizations, governmental agencies, and other professionals working with special-needs populations. Its training is intended to help participants better address developmental and behavioural needs. The organization also shares information and resources through articles, blog posts, books and publications, and a resource directory covering locations across India. Its published topics include teacher education, parent perspectives on autism management, social adaptability and skills, inclusive preschool design, and autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
