About AutismResearchCentre
The Autism Research Centre (ARC) at the University of Cambridge is dedicated to conducting research that aims to understand autism and improve the health and well-being of autistic individuals and their families. With approximately 30 research scientists and support staff, the ARC brings together experts from various disciplines, including cognitive neuroscience, psychiatry, genetics, clinical psychology, and molecular biology. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology such as MRI, DTI, and genome sequencing, the ARC investigates the causes of autism and develops interventions.
The center collaborates closely with organizations like the Autism Centre of Excellence at Cambridge, the National Autistic Society, and Autistica, as well as clinical providers and companies. In partnership with ACE, the ARC accelerates autism research and translates it into evidence-based clinical practice and employment opportunities for autistic adults. The center's funding comes from esteemed organizations like the Simons Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the National Institute for Health Research.
Since its establishment in 1998, the ARC has published over 600 peer-reviewed articles, books, and resources for autistic individuals, families, teachers, and clinicians
