About Automotive Grade Linux
Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) is a highly collaborative open-source project that aims to bring together automakers, suppliers, and technology companies to create a Linux-based software platform for automotive applications. This platform is designed to be the industry standard, enabling rapid innovation and faster time-to-market for new products. By adopting a shared platform, AGL reduces fragmentation and allows automakers and suppliers to reuse the same code base, resulting in cost savings and improved efficiency.
AGL's primary goal is to build a single platform for the entire industry, addressing all software aspects of the vehicle, including infotainment, instrument clusters, telematics, advanced driver assistance systems, functional safety, and autonomous driving. As a code first organization, AGL provides a starting point for production projects, developing 70-80% of the needed code. AGL also fosters an ecosystem of developers and suppliers who can leverage this platform, leading to increased collaboration and expertise.
Automotive Grade Linux is a project under the Linux Foundation and is committed to driving the advancement of open-source software in the automotive industry
