Autori in città is a cultural association and annual festival in Padua, Italy, dedicated to picture books, editorial illustration and visual storytelling. Each September, the festival brings together creators, readers, educators and other professionals across venues throughout the city, including independent bookshops, galleries, theatres, libraries and public spaces. Its program features exhibitions, book signings, illustration workshops, portfolio reviews, talks and roundtables with authors, illustrators, translators, publishers and cultural communicators.

Activities also include seminars for teachers, educators, librarians and caregivers, alongside events for children and families. Through its “L’Altro illustrato” program, the festival explores how picture books can be used in settings such as psychotherapy and elder care. A highlight is the independent publishing fair in Piazza Eremitani.

Autori in città also shares conversations with festival guests through podcasts and supports engagement with the illustration community throughout the year. Recognised with the European EFFE Label for artistic quality and community ties, the festival creates opportunities to discover illustrated books, learn about creative processes and connect with the people who make and use them
