Aux Légumes Citoyens

Aux Légumes Citoyens is a French nonprofit association founded in 2013 by Bénédicte and Bernard Nicolas, who moved from Brussels to Saint-Sulpice-d’Excideuil in the Dordogne to pursue organic farming. Guided by values of environmental respect, local food, and ethical agriculture, the association developed a small market garden using predominantly manual methods and practices such as composting, crop rotation, mulching, and green manures. Its aims include promoting ethical market gardening, fair prices for growers, small-scale organic production, heritage vegetable varieties, and local short supply chains.

The farm was certified organic and received Nature & Progrès certification from 2018 to 2023. Since 2025, the couple has stopped selling vegetables and now focuses on vegetarian food activities. They offer farm-hosted meals and cooking workshops, as well as advice on setting up a home vegetable garden.
