Ava is an independent Dutch advocacy organisation working to improve reproductive healthcare and rights for everyone with a uterus. It focuses on abortion and contraception, promoting accessible care, reliable information and greater understanding among policymakers, media and medical professionals. Ava provides clear, objective information on these topics in collaboration with organisations including Rutgers, Fiom and the NGvA. It also collects and shares personal experiences to highlight what works in healthcare and where improvements are needed.

Ava turns people’s experiences, research and evidence into public advocacy. Its work includes annual anonymous research, campaigns, sessions where participants can share their perspectives, and contributions to professional and policy discussions. The organisation also offers expertise through guest lectures, talks and panel events. Its campaign on pain relief during IUD insertion helped bring the issue to national attention, prompting parliamentary questions, media coverage, further research and discussion among clinicians. Through information, listening and public engagement, Ava aims to help ensure that reproductive care and policy better reflect the needs and experiences of the people directly affected.
