Avalon Healing Center

Avalon Healing Center is a Detroit-based nonprofit providing free, confidential, trauma-informed support to people affected by sexual assault, sexual abuse, incest, and human trafficking. Its services are available to survivors of all ages and gender identities, regardless of where they live, when or where the assault occurred, or whether they report it to police. Staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the crisis line at 313-474-SAFE.

For recent assaults, Avalon offers medical-forensic examinations, including injury assessment, medication, and evidence collection. Its team can help survivors understand their options and determine whether to visit a clinic or seek emergency care. Support is also available after the first five days, with medical follow-up and counseling options. Other services include counseling, advocacy, pediatric healing and recovery, a wellness clinic, LGBTQ+ wellness support, and survivor groups. Avalon also provides training for healthcare and law enforcement professionals and works on social justice and systems change.
