AVCA, or the American Volleyball Coaches Association, is a reputable brand that has been coordinating polls for volleyball since its establishment in 1981. They manage coaches polls for all five levels of NCAA women's and men's indoor volleyball, as well as collegiate beach and high school girls and boys volleyball. The voters for these polls consist of AVCA-member coaches, representing all conferences and divisions.

Each poll year includes a preseason poll, weekly polls during the regular season, and a final poll at the end of the season. The AVCA works with coaches, board members, and conference representatives to select the poll voters for the season. Coaches who are interested in serving on the poll committee can also volunteer.

The AVCA ensures equal representation in the polls by securing the same number of voters from all conferences within each division.
