About Vets for Climate Action
The Australian Veterinary Environmental Alliance (AVEA) is a pivotal organization dedicated to integrating veterinary expertise with environmental conservation to safeguard animals and their ecosystems. Established from the grassroots movement of veterinarians passionate about climate action, AVEA aims to address the pressing environmental challenges affecting wildlife, domestic animals, and agricultural systems across Australia.
AVEA’s comprehensive programs include the Climate Care Program, which offers veterinary clinics a pathway to sustainability certification, and Sustainable Equine Futures, focused on reducing the ecological impact of horse management. Their initiatives also encompass ZerOctober, a month-long sustainability challenge for clinics, and educational masterclasses for veterinary professionals. AVEA actively engages in policy advocacy, ensuring that the veterinary perspective is represented in discussions about climate change and biodiversity.
By fostering collaboration among veterinary professionals, industries, and the community, AVEA strives to lead impactful changes that benefit animal health, environmental integrity, and public awareness, underscoring the vital interconnection among animals, people, and the planet.
