Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC) is a Philadelphia-based collective of historians, attorneys, faith leaders, activists, and community members committed to telling the full truth of American history and advocating for justice. Founded in 2002 through efforts to establish the Slavery Memorial at the President’s House, the coalition works to ensure that stories denied public recognition are seen, taught, and remembered. ATAC combines historical research, legal advocacy, community storytelling, and public action to connect the past with present-day justice.

Its work includes campaigns to preserve and restore historical memorials, public petitions, rallies, annual commemorations, virtual town halls, and community events. The coalition also shares information about its origins, current campaigns, and advocacy through its website and media. ATAC invites people to volunteer, attend events, share its mission, and take part in its efforts.

By honoring ancestors and engaging the public, the organization seeks to restore historical understanding and help build a fairer future
