Avenir Farms of Vermont is a horse-breeding and homestead farm near Middlebury, Vermont, with three decades of experience farming and breeding Dutch Warmblood sport horses. Since purchasing a retired dairy farm in 2012, the farm has worked to restore its buildings, renew its fields, support its livestock, and provide a refuge for local wildlife. Its horse operation includes two breeding stallions and seven third- and fourth-generation offspring from the Olympic bloodlines of Avenir and Argus.
The horses are bred for character, conformation, and performance, and are raised in a herd environment and imprinted at birth. Farm owner David Black personally starts each horse under saddle, introducing them to ranch work, trails, and jumping. Avenir Farms also accepts outside mares for breeding, subject to approval, and can provide on-farm breeding and foaling.
For visitors, the farm offers a guesthouse for holidays in Vermont. Its website features information about the stallions, brood mares, horses, and farm videos
