Aves

Aves, a prominent ornithological hub under Natagora, has been dedicated to bird monitoring since 1966. Based in Belgium, Aves plays a vital role in tracking the distribution and population dynamics of wild birds across Wallonia and Brussels. Its diverse projects encompass monitoring common birds, conducting winter waterbird counts, and mapping hazardous power lines for avifauna. By combining on-ground observations with rigorous data analysis, Aves fosters a deeper understanding of bird populations and their habitats.

Not only does Aves engage ornithologists and enthusiasts through field projects, but it also offers educational training in collaboration with Natagora's Education Department. Members can participate in exciting initiatives like the Brussels Bird Atlas 2022-2024 and enjoy events such as study days to discuss urban avifauna. As a founding member of Natagora, Aves embodies a commitment to preserving biodiversity and encourages individuals to become members, volunteer, or contribute financially to support its conservation efforts.
