AVIS Foligno

AVIS Foligno is the local branch of the Italian blood donor association, founded in Foligno in 1953. It has grown from its original seven members into an established part of the city’s community, working to promote regular blood donation and support the health of recipients and donors. The association encourages people to become donors and provides information about blood, blood groups, donation options, medical tests and reasons for temporary suspension. Donors can contact its office to arrange an appointment, and the organization shares updates on events, initiatives and local opportunities.

AVIS Foligno also raises awareness through outreach and community partnerships. Its activities include meeting students to discuss the importance of donating, organizing group donation events with local organizations, and taking part in cultural, sporting and educational initiatives across the area. Donations take place through the Immunohematology and Transfusion Service at San Giovanni Battista Hospital in Foligno. The association further supports public information about donation-related suspensions for people who travel and invites the community to contribute through Italy’s five-per-thousand tax donation scheme.
