A Vision of Change Inc. (AVOC) is a Cleveland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1993 by Ms. Delores Collins. Guided by the mission to “Embrace, Empower, Motivate,” the organization works to break intergenerational cycles of poverty, poor health and youth incarceration by supporting children, families and underserved communities across Greater Cleveland and Ohio. AVOC reports serving more than 3,000 children and has operated for over 30 years.
Its programs combine academic empowerment, educational intervention and prevention services, with particular attention to children affected by a parent’s incarceration. AVOC also develops Community Health Hubs and trains or deploys Community Health Workers who connect residents with healthcare, promote wellness and help address neighborhood health disparities. Its Community Villages to Wellness initiative brings health and prevention resources into local communities. In partnership with Case Western Reserve University, AVOC also supports research on community health workers and clinical trial participation among Black residents. The organization provides community news and practical information, and collaborates with universities, health systems and grassroots partners to strengthen its work.
