AVIS Regionale del Molise ODV is the regional branch of AVIS, the Italian Association of Blood Volunteers, a nonprofit organization working to help ensure an adequate supply of blood and blood components for patients in need. AVIS promotes voluntary donation, contacts and coordinates donors, and, in some cases, collects blood in cooperation with public hospitals. The national organization reports that its members provide around 80% of Italy’s blood needs.
The Molise branch helps people learn about becoming donors and where to give blood. Eligible donors generally must be aged 18 to 60, weigh more than 50 kilograms, and have a healthy lifestyle; medical assessment determines suitability, and age limits may vary following clinical evaluation. Donations are by appointment at hospitals, authorized collection points, or accredited mobile units. The organization also provides information about local offices, donor requirements, and the donation process, and shares news, events, publications, and educational resources. Based in Ripalimosani, AVIS Regionale del Molise supports a network of volunteers and local branches dedicated to blood donation and public service.
