AVIS Provinciale Pistoia is a volunteer association working to support the availability of blood and blood components for people who need them. Nonpartisan and nonprofit, it promotes solidarity, inclusion and social value without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion or ideology. The association operates across the province of Pistoia through 14 local offices, helping residents find a nearby location and information on where to donate.
Its activities include encouraging eligible people to become blood donors and inviting community members to volunteer. Volunteers can contribute to local initiatives and other activities alongside fellow members, taking part in an experience the association describes as an opportunity for personal growth. AVIS Provinciale Pistoia also shares news and event updates from its local branches and provides information about donor requirements and its provincial office.
The website states that AVIS contributes 70% of Italy’s transfusion needs and notes that 1,800 patients require transfusions each day. Through donation, volunteering and local engagement, the association supports a dependable blood supply for those who rely on it.
