AVIS Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi is a local blood-donor association dedicated to promoting voluntary donation and supporting the health and safety of donors and recipients. Guided by the message “Donating blood is donating life,” it provides information about why to donate, eligibility, donation procedures, and practical steps to take before and after giving blood. The association also shares guidance on temporary deferrals, answers questions for new donors, and makes resources available in several languages for international residents.
Its services include scheduled blood collections and donor eligibility examinations, held at the AVIS section in Mede, at San Martino Hospital. The website publishes donation dates, videos, and advice, including updates intended to clarify health concerns such as West Nile virus and the checks performed on donations. Donors are contacted for collections and examinations primarily by SMS or WhatsApp, and are asked to keep their mobile number current.
AVIS Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi also presents information about its history, social reporting, and code of ethics, helping donors understand the association and its work
