About AWA
The Australian Water Association (AWA) is the largest water network in Australia, connecting people, businesses, and governments to create a sustainable water future. With over 5,000 individual and business members locally, nationally, and internationally, AWA shares information and opportunities to inspire positive change. Through events, awards, and specialist networks, AWA positions its members as leaders in innovative water management.
AWA caters to a wide range of industries, including water utilities, government agencies, energy providers, universities, manufacturers, laboratories, mining and resources, agriculture, technology, infrastructure partners, consulting firms, and more. Since its establishment in 1962, AWA has been at the forefront of advocating for water-related issues. In its commitment to a sustainable future, AWA has developed Strategy'25, a three-year strategic plan that focuses on member experience, sustainable communities, and indigenous and community collaboration.
Additionally, AWA actively promotes and develops activities that improve the understanding of indigenous culture and connection to water through various initiatives and actions. Led by CEO Corinne Cheeseman and governed by a board of directors and a strategic advisory council, AWA operates in line with their constitution, by-laws, and policies. AWA invites nominations from its members for positions on their board, ensuring transparency and member involvement in decision-making processes.
