AWIW – Brno, spol. s r. o.
was founded in 1993 by Col. Ing. Václav Hajný and became known for operating Brno’s first indoor 25-metre shooting range.
Its site brought together the range, supporting facilities, a firearms shop and a shooting club, welcoming people interested in shooting, weapons and their history. Visitors could also explore a museum featuring artefacts from the First and Second World Wars and peacetime. The venue hosted shooting competitions and attracted visitors from politics, sport and culture, as well as figures connected with firearms history.
Its community atmosphere fostered lasting friendships, and many former visitors continued meeting through the Moravian Shooters club, where members take part in shooting competitions. AWIW ended its operation of the range and firearms shop on 31 December 2019, when its owner retired. The company now operates only on the internet and is no longer associated with the former premises on Pražákova Street.
