AWT e. V.

AWT, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wärmebehandlung und Werkstofftechnik e. V., is a German research association focused on heat treatment and materials engineering. Based in Bremen, it connects industry, research and professional communities through a network of around 260 company and association members and 590 individual members. As part of the Industrial Collective Research programme, AWT supports the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise across the sector.

The association provides members with practical resources and opportunities to collaborate, including an expert hotline for application-related questions, member information published every two months, and a members’ area with access to databases, working groups and chat. Its activities include specialist committees, heat-treatment circles, conferences, seminars and research initiatives. AWT also maintains a project database and works with the Leibniz Institute for Materials-Oriented Technologies (IWT).

Key publications include HTM Journal of Heat Treatment and Materials and AWT-Info. The association organizes the annual Heat Treatment Congress and other professional events, and shares updates through its website and free newsletter.
