The Ayni Project is a product-sourcing and connection initiative working between Europe and Latin America. Guided by the Andean principle of ayni, or reciprocity, it brings producers, buyers, and markets together through collaboration and respect for origin. The team acts as product hunters, seeking goods with distinctive character, quality, provenance, and commercial potential, then researching, assessing, curating, and selecting the right opportunities.
Specialty coffee is a central focus. The Ayni Project connects coffee from Bolivia with European markets, and sources coffee from Africa and other origins for Latin America. It provides coffee samples accompanied by technical information and traceability from farm to market, helping buyers understand a coffee’s origin, processing, and qualities. Its work also includes exploring producer capabilities and connecting producers with importers, roasters, distributors, and brands.
Bolivia and Spain serve as hubs for a model that works in both directions, rather than fixed geographic limits. Through its website, the project shares coffee knowledge, stories of origin, and updates from its sourcing journeys, while inviting partners to start conversations and build lasting relationships.
