Azar Lab is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based addiction medicine research and innovation organization founded by Dr. Pouya Azar. It works to improve care for addiction, pain, and mental health through research, clinical protocols, education, and technology, with particular attention to challenges associated with fentanyl and the evolving overdose crisis. Its work spans pharmacology, digital health, artificial intelligence, and clinical innovation, translating research findings into practical approaches to care.

The lab develops and shares clinical resources, including protocols for withdrawal management, and publishes research on topics such as opioid treatment, overdose prevention, and emerging withdrawal syndromes. Through IMAPP, its operational hub, Azar Lab coordinates projects, campaigns, and collaborations. It also offers year-long physician and nursing fellowships focused on concurrent disorders and complex pain, combining clinical placements, teaching, mentorship, and research opportunities. Its public education includes a podcast on addiction, recovery, and related issues, as well as Natural Stance, an animated youth prevention campaign that uses skateboarding, storytelling, and lived experience to encourage early awareness.
