The Arizona Office of the Auditor General… Who We Are—We serve as the State’s “watchdog” by making sure agencies, counties, universities, community college districts, and school districts are using their resources (taxpayer dollars) appropriately and effectively. Our Work—Our auditors and investigators perform highly specific work and research in response to State laws and legislative requests, and produce impactful reports with recommendations for improvements. Most of these recommendations are implemented, which results in better government for Arizona citizens. Our Team—We are known as one of the country’s leading state audit organizations and the quality of our work is driven by our highly educated, trained, and motivated staff. About Arizona Auditor General
The Arizona Auditor General is an independent entity that provides impartial information and recommendations to improve the operations of state and local governmental entities. Their goal is to ensure that public resources, such as money, personnel, and property, are being used wisely and that entities are complying with applicable laws and regulations. The Office defines standards and procedures for accounting and budgeting and offers technical assistance to governmental entities.
They have audit responsibility for state agencies, counties, universities, community college districts, and school districts. The Office also conducts research and investigative projects in response to legislative requests. The Auditor General is appointed by the Joint Legislative Audit Committee for a renewable 5-year term.
