B-ACTIVE is a European research and training network focused on the biological regulation of chemokines and their role in excessive inflammation. Its name reflects its aim: to improve understanding of inflammatory responses and support better treatment for patients whose inflammation is disproportionate. The project investigates how posttranslational modifications affect chemokine ligands and receptors, including their interactions with one another and with glycosaminoglycans. Researchers also study related signaling pathways and their importance in inflammatory reactions.
A central part of B-ACTIVE is training ten PhD candidates to become future experts in this field, combining translational research with interdisciplinary perspectives. The program offers doctoral training, lectures, workshops, and opportunities to participate in scientific activities. Its website shares project news and events, information about beneficiaries and partner organizations, and scientific resources such as accepted publications, application notes, brochures, data, protocols, lay summaries, and preprints.
