About B3
B3 – Bumps, Birth and Belonging CIC is a community-led perinatal support organisation centring Black and mixed-heritage women and families. Founded by midwife, mother and perinatal advocate Nicole Lawal, B3 was created to offer culturally grounded care to families who may feel unheard or unsupported during pregnancy and early parenthood. Its support spans the first 1,001 days, from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday.
Services include one-to-one peer support from trained peers with lived experience, welcoming peer support groups, and counselling with qualified Black therapists. Families can find space to share experiences, build connections, and receive support with emotional challenges, including anxiety, low mood and birth trauma. B3 also provides access to essential equipment for parents and babies.
Based in Essex, the organisation supports families across the county, including Thurrock and Basildon, and works with partners on community-led projects. These include the Lullaby Project, which uses music and storytelling to support maternal wellbeing, and Right from the Start, which shares Black and Brown families’ experiences at Basildon Hospital.
