B8fish

B8fish is an iPhone app for anglers who want to record catches and understand which lures work, where, and under what conditions. Designed to keep attention on fishing, it lets users log a catch in one tap, capturing details such as species, size, lure, and live conditions. The app draws on weather information including wind, gusts, barometric trends, moon phase, and sky conditions to provide a bite-window rating based on angling signals.

Anglers can also photograph and organize their tackle, recording a lure’s type, brand, model, and colour. Photo matching helps identify lures later, while catch records show how often each has landed fish. On the B8fish website, My Catches turns logged data into readable patterns, including which lures are working and details such as depth and time of day.

B8fish is building toward recommendations that connect species, lures, water, and fishing conditions using real catches contributed by anglers. The app is currently in field testing and is not yet available on the App Store; visitors can sign up for a launch notification.
