The Baarverein (Association for the History and Natural History of the Baar) is a nonprofit association dedicated to the regional heritage of the Baar area in Germany. It promotes interest in the region’s history, archaeology, nature and cultural landscape through public programs, research and publications. Its regular activities include lectures by specialist speakers and guided excursions, alongside a calendar of events and an annual program. Topics featured include archaeological discoveries and local place-name history.
A central part of the association’s work is its publication series, Schriften der Baar. Issued annually, the series has documented the region since 1870 and provides a resource for readers interested in local studies. The Baarverein also publishes regional contributions and book reviews, offers postcards, and invites authors to submit work. Its specialist library holds more than 30,000 volumes relating to the Baar.
