The Bethlehem Bach Choir is America's oldest Bach Choir, founded in 1898. They are dedicated to performing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and promoting appreciation for his music. The choir consists of 90 dedicated volunteer singers, who perform with the Bach Festival Orchestra and distinguished soloists.
With their commitment to musical excellence, they have received international acclaim. The Bethlehem Bach Choir offers a wide range of concerts and educational programs, totaling 40 per year, for an audience of over 22,000. Their programming includes not only Bach's works but also compositions by composers who influenced Bach and were influenced by him.
In addition to their performances, the choir runs the Bel Canto Youth Chorus, which is celebrating its 30th year. Both organizations aim to train and nurture the next generation of choral singers. The Bethlehem Bach Choir has performed in prestigious venues around the world, including Munich's Royal Residence, Bach's church in Leipzig, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall during the BBC Proms.
They have released 11 recordings, received awards for their educational outreach programs, and have been featured on NPR and PBS. Under the artistic direction and conductorship of Dr. Christopher Jackson, the Bethlehem Bach Choir continues its rich tradition of sharing the beauty and significance of Bach's music with audiences locally, nationally, and internationally
