Backblocks Guided Hunting & Adventures

Backblocks Guided Hunting & Adventures offers outdoor experiences in New Zealand’s Whanganui region, where mountains, rivers and creeks provide a scenic setting for time in the countryside. The business aims to make the outdoors accessible to everyday visitors, including couples and families, and tailors trips to suit guests’ interests and experience.

Its primary guided hunting option is for free-range fallow deer, with opportunities to target goats and small game such as rabbits, hares and possums. The company also offers part or full processing of venison after a hunt, supporting guests who want to make use of the meat. Trips are suitable for both inexperienced and seasoned hunters, with conservation and responsible herd management central to the experience.

Other activities include farm tours to check a trap line targeting rodents and mustelids, as well as claybird and target shooting. Guests can stay in the rustic farmstay cottage, a home-away-from-home option for a relaxing weekend or a convenient base between outdoor adventures.
