About BackwoodsHome
Backwoods Home Magazine (BHM) is a renowned brand that caters to those seeking self-reliance and a homesteading lifestyle. Founded in 1989 by Dave Duffy, BHM provides a wealth of knowledge through its articles on a range of topics including gardening, livestock, canning, building, cooking, and guns. With its quarterly publication, the magazine has gained a dedicated following over the years.
In 2018, Dave's youngest son, Sam Duffy, took the reins and brought back the print edition under Self-Reliance Publications, a company he co-owns with his sister, Annie Tuttle. Not only did they revive the print edition of BHM, but they also publish another magazine called Self-Reliance. The passionate and knowledgeable staff, including Sam Duffy as the current publisher, Dave Duffy as the senior editor, Ilene Duffy as the Business Adviser, and Lisa Nourse as the Editorial Coordinator, work together to ensure each issue is informative and engaging.
Additionally, Don Childers, the magazine's artist, continues to create captivating illustrations and covers. Backwoods Home Magazine offers readers a comprehensive resource to guide them on their journey towards self-sufficiency and a self-reliant lifestyle
