International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes
@bacterio.net
The International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes (ICSP), formerly the International Committee on Systematic Bacteriology (ICSB), is a committee of appointed representatives from the national microbiological societies and co-opted members that oversees the nomenclature of prokaryotes, determines the rules by which prokaryotes are named, as documented in the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes (ICNP), and supervises the publishing of the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology (IJSEM). The functions of the ICSP are described in the Statutes of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes. ICSP is a committee under the Bacteriology and Applied Microbiology Division of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS).

About International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes
LPSN (List of Prokaryotic Names with Standing in Nomenclature) is a free-to-use scientific information service providing comprehensive resources on prokaryotic nomenclature and related topics. Founded in 1997 by Jean P. Euzéby, it is now based on a regularly updated database maintained at DSMZ, the Leibniz Institute. LPSN is recognized as both a Global Core Biodata Resource and an ELIXIR Core Data Resource, and is supported by the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes (ICSP).
The service helps researchers and other users explore taxonomic names across ranks, from domains and kingdoms to genera and species. Its resources include advanced search, information on nomenclature and etymology, curated collections, statistics, downloadable data, and an application programming interface. Users can also consult guidance, glossaries, citation details, and information on submitting nomenclatural data. LPSN publishes updates on recently added taxon names and provides a mailing list for service news. Through its accessible database and supporting tools, LPSN serves as a reference for the classification and naming of prokaryotes.
