Bada

Badaboum is a French nonprofit association established on 8 January 2002 at the initiative of healthcare staff at Orléans University Hospital. Its purpose is to improve the welcome and comfort of hospitalised children and help their families stay with them in better conditions. Working closely with hospital staff, including association members, Badaboum supports children receiving care for injuries and a range of medical conditions, with the aim of making hospital experiences less frightening and more positive.

The association creates a friendlier, more reassuring environment through themed decorations, books, art supplies, music, films and games. It marks occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Carnival and Easter with activities, treats and gifts, and invites artists and performers to engage young patients. Badaboum also funds childcare equipment and resources to help parents be present, as well as playful tools that can distract children during difficult procedures. Its projects include a therapeutic virtual-reality headset combining relaxing settings, music, games and medical hypnosis, and a Snoezelen trolley designed to promote calm through sensory experiences.
