About BAFTS
BAFTS, the British Association of Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers, is a dedicated network of over 100 independent retailers and suppliers committed to promoting Fair Trade across the UK. Established in 1995, BAFTS adheres to the 10 Principles of Fair Trade as outlined by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO), ensuring accountability and ethical practices among its members. By connecting with disadvantaged producer groups, BAFTS empowers these communities while fostering a wider movement for equitable trade practices.
The organization provides a structure for its members to validate their commitment to Fair Trade through an annual peer-to-peer assessment, solidifying their place within this meaningful sector. In addition to supporting Fair Trade practices, BAFTS hosts an annual conference, offers resources for its network, and engages the public through various initiatives. By promoting transparency and collaboration, BAFTS invites individuals and businesses to join their community and support a fairer trading system, making ethical consumption accessible to all
