The Bahrain Meteorological Directorate (BMD), established in 1902, is the official government body responsible for all meteorological activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain. As a member of the World Meteorological Organization since 1980, BMD is committed to delivering precise weather services that are crucial for public safety and socio-economic development. The organization provides vital meteorological information, including forecasts and historical data, to government agencies, civil aviation, the military, the media, and various industries, such as agriculture and marine operations.

BMD's mission focuses on enhancing the quality of meteorological services to meet international standards, thus contributing to the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. Key services include timely weather forecasts, early warnings for severe conditions, climatological records, and research into climate-related issues. Furthermore, BMD plays an essential role in disaster mitigation and actively engages in educational programs to raise public awareness about meteorology and climate change, ensuring a better understanding of weather's impact on daily life.
