Ballina Shire Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit community service based in Ballina, New South Wales, serving local residents and neighbouring areas since 1967. It delivers nutritious, good-quality meals for a reasonable fee to older people, people with disability and their carers, helping clients remain independent in their own homes. Meals are tailored to individual requirements, including dietary needs and cultural taste preferences.

Beyond food delivery, the organisation provides social support and regularly checks on clients’ wellbeing. Its approach is grounded in respect for personal choice, independence, dignity, privacy and equal access to responsive services. Meals can be arranged by clients themselves, relatives, friends or carers, and referrals may also come from doctors and other health professionals. Eligible people can be referred through My Aged Care and the Australian Government’s Commonwealth Home Support Programme, which funds the service.

Ballina Shire Meals on Wheels aims to deliver appropriate food services and dependable support while operating effectively and accountably.
