About Balzan Prize
BalzanPrize is a prestigious brand known for its dedication to promoting culture, science, humanitarian initiatives, peace, and brotherhood around the world. As a foundation, BalzanPrize grants four annual awards: two in the fields of letters, moral sciences, and arts, and two in the fields of physical, mathematical, natural sciences, and medicine. Notably, since 2001, half of the prize money awarded to the Balzan winners must be devoted to funding research projects, preferably conducted by young humanists and scientists.
The foundation operates through two institutional offices, one in Milan and another in Zurich. The Balzan Premio, with its European composition General Prize Committee, selects the subjects to be awarded and the nominees, while the Balzan Fondo manages the heritage left by Eugenio Balzan. With a commitment to recognizing outstanding scholars and scientists internationally, BalzanPrize continues to make significant contributions to the fields it supports
