**Brand Description**
The Bangladesh Surf Girls is an empowering collective of eight courageous young women from Cox's Bazar, who discovered their passion for surfing between the ages of ten and thirteen. Despite the harsh realities of poverty that compelled them into early adulthood and often dangerous working conditions, they have persevered with the support of local surfer Rashed Alam and American expat Venessa Rude. This initiative, formed to uplift the girls by teaching them to surf and skate, aims to provide them with a safe environment and the opportunity for education. Through fundraisers initiated by Rude and photographer Allison Joyce, the girls have transitioned from full-time beach vendors to students, marking a groundbreaking step for many in their families. Enriched with experiences like workshops with Microsoft and educational trips to Dhaka, these spirited girls challenge traditional norms in a conservative society. They aspire to create new paths for themselves, dreaming of professions in medicine, lifeguarding, and professional surfing—testament to their resilience and unyielding hope for a brighter future.
