Unitil

Unitil is an investor-owned public utility that delivers natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, with a commitment to providing energy safely and reliably. Its mission emphasizes respect, integrity, stewardship, and excellence, alongside affordable and sustainable energy solutions. In Maine, Unitil operates the state’s largest natural gas distribution system, serving approximately 43,900 customers from Kittery to Lincoln. The company also serves customers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, operating natural gas transmission and underground distribution infrastructure across the region.

Unitil provides residential and business energy services, customer account management, online and mobile payment tools, one-time bill payment, paperless billing, automatic payments, and budget billing. Customers can access current rates and tariffs, payment assistance, and customer service support. The company also offers gas safety information, emergency response, and a 24/7 Gas Control Center. Its customer resources include monthly newsletters, energy-efficiency tips, and community programs. Following its acquisition of Bangor Natural Gas in January 2025, Unitil is integrating those customers into its billing systems while continuing to focus on service quality, operational safety, and Maine’s energy needs.
