BAnQ

Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) is Québec’s public institution for libraries, archives, and documentary heritage. It makes cultural resources accessible to the public through its collections, research tools, digital platforms, events, and services. Its catalogue brings together books, journals, newspapers, music, films, television series, and video games available through the Grande Bibliothèque and the Bibliothèque nationale. BAnQ numérique provides online access to documents connected to Québec’s heritage, while Advitam helps users discover archival materials, from photographs and manuscripts to records from New France and more recent periods.

The institution also supports genealogy and historical research with civil registers, notarial archives, maps, plans, and other digitized resources. Visitors can access adapted books, reserve rooms, request reproductions, and use research guidance and professional information-management and archival consulting. BAnQ offers exhibitions, screenings, guided visits, workshops, storytelling activities, and educational resources, both online and at its locations. With services for diverse audiences, including children, older adults, educators, and people with disabilities, BAnQ connects people with knowledge, culture, and the history of Québec.
