Barbara Phelps

Barbara Phelps Bronze Sculpture is the California-based studio of artist Barbara Phelps, creating bronze works that bring stories, presence, and meaning into homes, public spaces, and sacred places. Her practice includes large statement sculptures and animal and wildlife pieces inspired by nature, mythic archetypes, and ceremonial strength. Influences range from Northern California Pomo basket weavers and Pacific coastal landscapes to Samurai and Balkan warrior armor and Italian bronze foundries.

The studio offers sculptures and drawings, along with selected commissioned work and design collaborations. Barbara works with collectors, architects, interior designers, and cultural partners to develop site-specific sculptures, ceremonial forms, and commissioned wildlife pieces, shaped by the intended place and story. Her background in graphic and spatial design informs this collaborative process.

Grounded in California, her work is also shaped by connections with artisans and foundries in Italy and the Balkans. Her works and drawings have been shown at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, with additional recognition in North America.
