En Attendant les Barbares is a Paris design gallery located in the Saint-Germain district, specializing in contemporary collectible design. Established in the early 1980s, it has been the principal gallery and publisher for designers Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, whose collaboration began in 1984. The gallery offers exclusive, made-to-order and limited-edition furniture and lighting, alongside decorative objects and other design pieces.
Its collection includes lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, tables, consoles, seating, cabinets, desks, mirrors and candlesticks. Notable Garouste and Bonetti works include the Moon lamp, Isis table, Fourches pedestal table, Masque lamp and Leaves Mirror. The gallery also presents solo work by both designers, as well as pieces by international figures including Andrée Putman, Olivier Gagnère, Eric Jourdan and Eric Schmitt.
En Attendant les Barbares showcases designers through exhibitions, collections and gallery publications. Its offerings reflect a distinctive meeting of art and design, from sculptural, expressive creations to more restrained forms.
