Barbel is a European freshwater fishing app designed around the regulations, fish and conditions anglers encounter across the region. It brings together information on more than 25,000 fishing waters in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Germany, including maps, water levels, forecasts and local rules. Anglers can check closed seasons, minimum sizes, permitted methods, fishing hours and catch limits, with original legal texts shown alongside translated guidance. Barbel also provides country-specific information about licences and permits, with regulatory guidance covering ten countries.

Its fishing forecast offers bite indexes for 40 species, broken down by time of day and informed by local conditions. Other tools include a live rain radar, a European fish atlas and trip sessions that record routes, catches, weather and timing. Users can organize tackle, photos, spots and trip notes in a fishing diary. Maps, rules and diary functions work offline, and the interface is available in eight languages. Barbel is being prepared for Android and iPhone, with a free starting option.
