The Association of Barbel Fishers (ABF) is an angling association for people interested in barbel and barbel fishing. Guided by its aim of “putting life and friendship into barbel fishing,” it provides information, practical guidance and opportunities for anglers to connect with like-minded people. Its website features news, details about the association and its constitution, conservation information, and health and safety resources, including a statement and risk assessment. Anglers can also find tips and tricks, a barbel handling code, fishery rules and information about available services.

ABF membership includes access to an interactive, moderated forum focused mainly, though not exclusively, on barbel angling. The association also offers access to a number of exclusive, ABF-controlled fisheries, with further details provided through its fisheries information. Joining requires a small, one-time donation to help cover running costs; there is no renewal fee while members continue to use the forum. The association explains that inactive accounts may be deleted after more than two years, in accordance with its stated GDPR policy.
