About Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information
The Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information is a pivotal initiative spearheaded by over 25 experts in research information, representing a diverse array of organizations involved in conducting, funding, and evaluating research, as well as those providing essential research information infrastructures. Originating from a workshop held in November 2023 in Barcelona, hosted by the SIRIS Foundation, the Declaration aims to enhance transparency and accessibility in the research community. Key figures in its creation include Bianca Kramer from Sesame Open Science, Cameron Neylon from the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative, and Ludo Waltman from the Centre for Science and Technology Studies at Leiden University.
The Declaration outlines commitments to open research practices and serves as a platform for organizations interested in signing or learning more about its principles and commitments. With upcoming conferences scheduled in Paris (September 2024) and Bologna (May 2025), the Barcelona Declaration is set to foster collaboration and innovation in open research.
