Barcelona Macula Foundation: Research for Vision is a Barcelona-based foundation dedicated to advancing research into degenerative diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness. Its work focuses on conditions affecting the macula, retina and vitreous, with particular attention to preclinical research and moving promising findings into clinical studies as quickly as possible. The foundation investigates diseases including atrophic age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease and retinitis pigmentosa, conditions for which effective treatments remain a significant research challenge.

Alongside its research projects and scientific publications, the foundation develops clinical trials to explore new treatments and invites eligible patients to learn about participating. It also promotes SilVer, an assistive-technology platform designed to support people who are blind or have low vision. The foundation works with research and clinical centres, scientific institutions, associations and other partners in Europe and internationally. Individuals and organisations can support its mission through donations, membership, major gifts, legacies and other initiatives.
