About Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes
The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is a prestigious initiative established in 2001 by acclaimed author T. A. Barron. This nonprofit organization, part of the Young Heroes Project, recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary efforts of young individuals aged 8 to 18 from diverse backgrounds across North America. Every year, the Barron Prize honors 25 outstanding young leaders who have made significant positive contributions to their communities, the environment, and society at large.
To date, the Barron Prize has awarded over half a million dollars to hundreds of young heroes, garnering support from notable organizations like the National Geographic Education Foundation and the Girl Scouts of the USA. The selection committee, composed of experienced professionals in education and youth service, diligently evaluates applicants based on their heroic qualities such as courage and compassion. Through its dedication to inspiring youth and fostering a spirit of philanthropy, the Barron Prize not only acknowledges achievements but also empowers future generations to create meaningful change.
